So, I recently listened to an analogy about the giraffe and the turtle.
The giraffe with its long neck sees things at a higher level than its counterpart, the Turtle, who, based on its stature, sees things at a lower level.
They are both stable and thriving at their different levels.
Problems come up when either of them wants to be like or give some advice to the other party.
The giraffe either has to lower his head to the level of the turtle or the turtle has to stretch himself to hear the giraffe.
This maybe fine at first, but the longer they stretch themselves, the more uncomfortable they become.
Each of us, based on the way we are created, have our own natural way of seeing things.
We think, innovate, and make decisions in line with our natural capabilities.
When we leave this natural way to accommodate other ways or views, we should not disregard our uniqueness.
We have been created uniquely, with our different talents and perspectives. We should respect that.
We have been created uniquely, with our different talents and perspectives. We should respect that.
I have learned that it is manipulation when we try to force others to think and see as we do without considering their circumstances.
I have learned to appreciate and understand why I think as I do.
I have learned that there are possibilities and opportunities even at my level.
I can improve on them without going outside the laws and principles available at that level.
It doesn’t mean that I can’t stretch and improve myself further. I can only do that if I search for knowledge, information and wisdoms that are available to help me even in my unique state.
The issues we are having is that we are not searching but rather, we are focusing on other people, that are different from us, wanting to be like them or trying to change them to our own ways of life without considering each other’s uniqueness.
God has made us unique and diverse.
There is and can be, ‘Unity in our diversity’.
This analogy has expanded my way of thinking and perspectives and I hope it does so for you too.
I see you.
