My experiences are teaching me that we often limit ourselves based on our current situations and our inability to imagine or believe that a change of situation is possible.
This is because, as human beings and also in our bid to be ‘realistic,’ we try to curtail our hopes, dreams or expectations based on other people’s opinions or fears of being disappointed.
If I look back to my life and to where I am now, it’s funny to see that some expectations that I had then actualized and that I am still here, dreaming of more experiences and hoping they will come to pass.
I remembered when I was younger and my hair refused to grow past a certain length and I believed it when people told me then, that it is hereditary (even though my sisters had full and long hairs), and that I should come to terms with that. I believed them and not until years later, when I dreadlocked my hair and my hair grew past my ever-imagined length!
I am learning not to limit myself because of others limited imaginations.
As long as there is life, we have the hope of achieving our dreams and even surpassing them, Believe this.
As long as there is life, we have the hope of achieving our dreams and even surpassing them, Believe this.
I am also learning not to force my judgement on people because I realize too, I am limited in my understanding of people’s current circumstances.
A lot of people are facing challenges and when we are confronted with peoples actions or behaviors, we should be careful on how we judge or condemn as we may not have a full picture of the circumstances surrounding them.
We don’t also know how we would act if we were confronted with the same challenges as they have.
I have seen myself reacting and doing some things which I had at one time condemned or even criticized.
Now, I try to be more empathetic towards people, but I am also wiser in my thinking too
So, my final advise….
Never limit yourself because of others’ limited imagination.
Never limit others because of your own limited imagination.
I see you.
