During this period of Lock down as a result of the Corona-virus pandemic all over the world, I have discovered a lot of things about myself, other people, God’s ways and deep understandings that are making a lot of difference in my life and also in the way I view things.
This blog was also borne from this period!
The world is viewing the current lock down as a period to enable the containment of the virus. There has been divergent views about this and I have heard a lot of people complaining about the challenges that this period is bringing to them, the difficulties and the fear that ‘normality’ as we know it will disappear!
I have been listening to the messages of Bishop Wayne Malcolm of the I Can Community Church and he has recently been speaking on the history of Lock downs in the bible. Some of the examples he gave were: Noah in the ark during the flood, Jonah’s experience in the belly of a fish, Daniel in the den of lions, Joseph in prison and Elijah hiding from Ahab by the brook Cherith. In all they came out stronger, with different positions, abilities and attitudes. They made impacts that lifted them in the eyes of men and placed them in a higher altitude!.
I have learned that God allows lock downs in other to begin a new dimension and release our potentials and opportunities. Apart from the general lock down, we may have experienced lock down in many aspects of our lives,it is our mindset and attitude towards them that determines how we experience the outcomes!
Bishop Malcolm outlined the purposes or what he called the ‘4ps’ of Lock downs. They are:
- Protection: Lock downs are always for our protection. Often, it is the protection of God’s plan for our life spiritual destiny.
- Provision: God’s purpose is to feed and fatten your mind for the next chapter of your spiritual destiny.
- Promotion: The outcome of a lock down is always a promotion. Those who emerge, come out stronger and go on to occupy new levels and roles.
- Prosperity: People coming out of divine lock down always go on to prosper and command more wealth than before the lock down.
Friends, God is bringing us to a new level in life. Stop viewing this lock down as a waste of time or looking at it as opportunity lost. Stop grumbling and living in fear that things will not be normal again. You may have lost your job, businesses, relatives/friends to death, opportunities gone. Please know that all things would work out better for you even in a way that you cannot imagine. Don’t slip into counterproductive habits like regrets, complaints and indulging on other self destructive habits.
Use this opportunity to build yourself, feast on the word of God, upgrade your skill sets, identify new goals, read books, exercise etc. See this lock down as a training period and prepare yourself for the new thing that God is about to do in your life!
